LionShareable How to Get Found On AI

As we move into the summer months, I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for being part of the LionShare community. When I started LionShare Cowork, the vision was simple: create a place where entrepreneurs, professionals, remote workers, nonprofits, educators, and growing businesses could find the workspace solutions they need to succeed. Over the years, that vision has evolved, but our mission remains the same.

At LionShare, we strive to be:

Seen. Trusted. Recommended. The Answer.

These four ideas have become more than just marketing concepts. They represent how we approach our business and how we hope to support yours.

We want LionShare to be seen as a valuable resource in our community. We work hard to create opportunities for networking, education, collaboration, and business growth. We want to earn your trust by delivering professional workspace solutions, outstanding service, and a welcoming environment where people genuinely enjoy working. We hope our members and guests recommend LionShare to others because of the experiences they have here.

This month's feature article explores a fascinating new trend: how artificial intelligence is changing the way customers discover businesses. Increasingly, people are turning to tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and Copilot for recommendations instead of traditional search engines. As business owners, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity.

The businesses that are visible, credible, and consistently providing value online are becoming the businesses AI recommends. At LionShare, we're actively studying these changes and exploring how AI will impact small businesses, marketing, customer discovery, and business growth. As we learn, we plan to share practical tips, tools, resources, and real-world insights with our members through LionShareable Magazine, our B.I.N.G. (Business Intelligence Networking Group) meetings and future educational programming.

Thank you for allowing LionShare to be part of your journey. We look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and succeed together.

See you around the workspace.

How To Get Your Business Recommended By AI

For years, business owners have been focused on one primary goal: getting found on Google.

We built websites, worked on SEO, collected reviews, and claimed our Google Business Profiles because we understood that visibility mattered. When someone searched for a service we offered, we wanted our business to appear.

Today, however, I believe we're witnessing the beginning of another major shift in how customers discover businesses.

More and more people are turning to artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and Copilot to answer questions that previously would have been typed into a search engine. Instead of searching through ten websites and comparing options, people are asking AI directly.

Questions like:

"Who is the best accountant in Jacksonville?"

"Can you recommend a good therapist near me?"

"Where can I rent a professional meeting room?"

"What coworking space would you recommend near Jacksonville Beach?"

These questions are becoming surprisingly common, and they reveal an interesting challenge for business owners. If someone asked AI about your industry today, would your business be mentioned? Check out this ten minute video that was very vaulable to me:

The reality is that AI systems are constantly gathering information from websites, reviews, directories, social media platforms, articles, business listings, and other public sources. They are attempting to understand which businesses are active, credible, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. In many ways, AI is forming an opinion about your business every day. That's why I believe the future isn't simply about ranking on Google. It's about becoming a business that is seen, trusted, and recommended.

Businesses with strong reviews, helpful content, accurate online information, active websites, and a clear reputation for solving problems are giving AI more reasons to recognize and recommend them. Businesses with outdated information, little content, and few reviews may find themselves becoming increasingly difficult to discover.

This is one of the reasons we've spent so much time discussing SEO, Google Business Profiles, online reviews, and content creation through B.I.N.G. and LionShareable. Those efforts don't just help search engines understand your business—they help artificial intelligence understand your business as well.

As I began researching this topic, I also discovered a new category of tools designed specifically to track how businesses appear within AI-generated responses. One example is AnswerRank.AI, a platform focused on helping businesses understand whether they are being recommended by AI systems and what they can do to improve their visibility. Think of it as the early stages of "SEO for AI." I have signed up for an account, I look forward to sharing my results in the next B.I.N.G meeting.

While this technology is still developing, I believe it represents an important glimpse into the future of marketing. With that in mind, I'd like to challenge every LionShare member this month.

Open ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or your favorite AI assistant and ask a simple question related to your business.

Ask: "Who would you recommend for [your service] in Jacksonville, Florida?"

Take a look at the response. Did your business appear? Did a competitor appear? Were you surprised by the results?

Bring your findings to our next B.I.N.G. meeting, where we'll explore how AI makes recommendations, discuss why certain businesses are appearing in answers, and identify practical ways to improve your visibility in this new era of search.

The Business Tax Most Owners Don't Think About Until It's Too Late

A few months ago, I found myself spending far more time learning about Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPP) than I ever expected.

Like many business owners, I knew TPP existed, but I didn't fully appreciate how important it could become until I was faced with a significant increase in our assessed value and had to navigate the appeal process.

My goal in sharing this article isn't to provide tax advice. Instead, I want to make sure other business owners understand what TPP is, how it works, and why it deserves your attention.

What Is Tangible Personal Property Tax?

Tangible Personal Property Tax is a tax assessed on physical assets used in your business. This generally includes items such as:

  • Furniture
  • Computers
  • Printers
  • Equipment
  • Machinery
  • Televisions
  • Office fixtures
  • Tools
  • Signage
  • Leasehold improvements in certain situations

In simple terms, if your business owns physical property used to operate the business, it may be subject to TPP reporting requirements. Unlike real estate taxes, which apply to land and buildings, TPP applies to the business assets inside the building.

Who Must File?

In Florida, businesses that own tangible personal property generally must file an annual Tangible Personal Property Tax Return (Form DR-405) with their county property appraiser. Even small businesses operating from a home office may have reporting obligations if they own business assets. If you receive a TPP return from the Property Appraiser, don't ignore it.

Why This Matters

Many business owners assume that because they've already paid sales tax when purchasing equipment, there are no additional tax implications. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Failure to file can result in estimated assessments, penalties, and values being assigned by the Property Appraiser's Office rather than based on your actual records. Those estimates may not always work in your favor.

What Should You Track?

Every business should maintain a simple fixed asset list that includes:

  • Description of equipment
  • Purchase date
  • Purchase price
  • Serial numbers when applicable
  • Disposal dates for equipment that has been sold, discarded, or replaced

Good recordkeeping can save considerable time and frustration if questions ever arise regarding your assessment.

Key Dates To Remember

For Duval County businesses, TPP returns are generally due by April 1 each year. Assessment notices are typically issued later in the year, followed by opportunities to discuss concerns with the Property Appraiser's Office or pursue an appeal if necessary. Missing deadlines can limit your options, so paying attention to notices is critical.

A Lesson We Learned The Hard Way

One of the biggest lessons I learned is that TPP is not something to set aside and deal with later. Review your assessments. Maintain your records. Ask questions when something doesn't make sense. If you receive an assessment that appears incorrect, don't assume it is automatically correct simply because it came from a government agency. Take the time to understand the valuation and seek professional guidance when necessary. The earlier you address a concern, the more options you typically have available.

Final Thoughts

Most business owners spend their time focused on customers, revenue, marketing, payroll, and growth. Tangible Personal Property Tax rarely makes anyone's list of favorite business topics. However, understanding how it works can help you avoid surprises, reduce stress, and potentially save significant money in the future.

Trust me on this one—TPP is one of those business responsibilities that's much easier to manage proactively than reactively.

LionShare Pro Tip

Review your asset list every January.

Before filing your TPP return:

✅ Remove equipment you no longer own
✅ Verify purchase dates and values
✅ Confirm disposed assets are properly documented
✅ Retain receipts and records
✅ Consult your CPA if you're uncertain
